Decontamination of Radioactive Spills for Radiographers and Technologists
Performing the correct procedure for decontaminating spills is essential to your role within a PET-CT service.
This short course provides the core knowledge and understanding of what steps to take when performing contamination monitoring, cleaning up and decontaminating a radioactive spill. This course also acts as an annual refresher for all appropriate staff to ensure they renew their knowledge and remain current on the correct procedures and protocols.
Learning Outcomes
- Determine how to deal with a spill depending on the amount of contamination and location
- Describe appropriate PPE for dealing with spills
- Identify who to notify of a spill before, during and after the clean-up
